What is "L'ART de la JOIE"?
"L'ART de la JOIE" (The Art of Joy) is a multidisciplinary artistic project born from a deep need to slow down, to feel and to choose joy as a conscious, lucid and courageous gesture.
Led by artist Véronique Boucher, the project explores joy not as a light or naive emotion, but as an inner strength, a stance towards the world, a space of sensitive resistance.
Through visual arts, music, spoken word, humor, video, and writing, The Art of Joy offers an intimate and collective experience, a journey through what connects us, makes us vulnerable, and transforms us.
The project unfolds in different forms; solo performance, visual works, workshops and digital content, all brought together by the same intention to create spaces where joy can be recognized, inhabited and shared, even in the heart of the complexity of reality.
With over two decades of artistic experience and a rich background in creation, directing, and mentoring artists, L'ART de la JOIE is part of a profoundly human quest. It speaks to those who refuse to become hardened, who seek meaning, beauty, and genuine inspiration.
Choosing joy here is not an escape from the world, it is a way of feeling alive and connected together.
About The Artist - Véronique Boucher
My name is Véronique Boucher.
Labels have always made me a little uncomfortable. Visual artist, musician, writer, speaker, stage director, producer… yes, all of that, but never just one thing, never completely. What defines me best, in the end, is my deep interest in being human.
For more than twenty five years, I have been creating from connection. From presence. From what happens between people. I first studied theatre, then music, because I needed a microphone, a gaze, a living exchange with an audience. Very early on, I understood that my strength lies in connection, in the ability to feel a room, to take care of it, to bring people together.
For eight years, I toured across Canada with a project for young audiences. More than eight hundred performances later, along with two albums and a DVD, one certainty became clear. What drives me is not only performing, it is shedding light. Making visible what is real, sensitive, fragile and beautiful, in others as well as in myself.
That desire led me to found ORIGINE, a production and artistic consulting company, where I supported many creators in developing their projects, their voice and their identity. For a long time, I was the one who propelled, who illuminated, who supported from behind the scenes. Until life gently, and then firmly, invited me to recentre.
After a necessary pause, a period of listening and sorting through what truly matters, I chose to return to what is essential. To who I am. To what I want to say. I trained in solo performance writing, and an obvious truth emerged. I do not have answers to offer, only a sincere desire to search together.
A multidisciplinary artist, a sower of joy and a weaver of connections, I now create spaces where art becomes a language of the heart. Through words, music, gesture or colour, I explore the beauty of everyday life, the complexity of the human experience, and that strange ability we have to keep going, despite everything.
One day, someone told me I was an artist of joy.
That is where the project The Art of Joy was born.
A deeply human project.
A gentle revolution.
